THE LOS ANGELES FESTIVAL OF BOOKS was overwhelming!
First I'd like to thank Gordon, as always, your support is the highlight of my life... Thanks for all your work in making this happen... You are and will always be part of the oxygen that keeps me going... This book was written because you believed in my writing. Thanks for your hard work at the booth, especially when it got crazy. I know how much the public loved you! Thanks for taking care of me.
Randy... oh my, how do I ever thank you? Those amazing signs, the Larabar sponsorship, and your hard work. Somewhere in life, someone must have taught you to work hard <wink>. But it has never been your wonderful work ethic that has me captured. It is always your kindness, sensitivity and caring. You are a big part of the foundation as to why this book was published! It was so neat to share in the celebration of its success at the festival! You are and will always be part of our family. Thank you!
Thanks to my family for coming to the festival and all the support! I must say that I really underestimated the enormous reality of this eventl. I was overwhelmed from the moment I arrived till I left on the last day. A special thanks goes to Corie, my granddaughter who worked tirelessly trying to keep the books in order and constantly filling the spots of the ones sold. Corie was so faithful in her role of helping me... Corie, you can work at my booth anytime! I also want to give special thanks to Kaila for her handling of the raffle tickets and for her help with sales. To my other grandchildren, Lani, Mia, Joy, Makena, and Lindsey, please know that all of your sweet support kept me smiling. Rika, Stephanie, and Takeshi... thanks for coming and bringing the grandchildren. What a top notch family! It meant so much to me! I love you all so much.
BARB, BARB, BARB what can I say to a friend that goes out of her way (as you always do) in getting me organized. You were meticulous in knowing how to set up things . . . all the materials you brought and the wonderful T-Shirts you made with a picture of my novel on it... You always make everything we do in life so much better. Your friendship means so very much to me. Thank you!
Ashley, it was the first time we met .... yet we have known each other through your mom! Thank you for your expertise, kindness and creative ideas... You are so sweet, just like your mom....!!! Thanks for all the help. We can't wait to get to spend some personal time with you!
Matt, AuthorsDen.... What a terrific guy you are! You amaze me, all the printing, purchasing of raffle drums, and the sponsorship of the raffle by your generosity. You are way too nice... I could misuse that, but I'll try not to!!! Thanks for your wonderful support.
I would like to thank LARABARs for their sponsorship by providing those amazing bars... People were looking all over for the booth with them! I know some books customers came for bars and bought my novel too... Thank you so much! I believe there were quite a few people that are now hooked on Larabars!!!
I would like to thank the Los Angeles Times, Jeff Cibull, Festival Administrator... Ok, get this... He had over a 1,000 booths, 130,000 attending and he took the time to get to know me, a first time author. He was quick to respond to emails, phone calls and visited my booth to make sure everything was going great! As a careered management consultant, I can tell you that it is rare to see this kind of unbelievable service for a venue so huge. Jeff your support, encouragement, booth placement selection and follow-up ranks up there as quality beyond reasonable expectations!
The whole experience was wonderful! It has motivated me to do the book festivals in San Diego, Hollywood, Palm Springs and I will again go to the largest book festival, the Los Angeles Festival of Book 2008! Thanks again!
