tv program featured The Dynamic Great Lakes and The Wilderness Within
I just received the videotape of the my book talk, discussion and signing in Okemos, MI. This was at Schuler's Books and Music, a very fine store. The young woman who invited me to come had studied the ecology of the Great Lakes and was knowledgeable about the subject. I spent the most time talking about my book, The Dynamic Great Lakes.
The audience was also knowledgeable. This location is near the state's capitol and Michigan State University where I graduated. The question and answer period led to a very interesting discussion on the topic of Great Lakes water. I had also read from The Wilderness Within, my book of poetry and essays about wilderness areas--within and without. One person commented that they do not really like poetry, but they liked my poems.
A public access tv station taped the whole event and showed it on a program called Focus on Women. I just received a copy of the tape. The program aired in Lansing at 5 pm and in East Lansing at 8:30 p.m. and it was an hour long program. It was not widely aired, but after all, my books have a niche audience and this area is a good place for me to be. Besides, I felt at home and said so. I spent most of my growing up years in East Lansing.
