I finsihed two new books. They are both thrillers. I've already submitted them so I'm waiting to hear back.
Tom opened the driver’s side door to the SUV and got in. Kate climbed into the front passenger seat and began to fasten her seat belt. Brian opened the back passenger door for Melissa. She smiled.
“Thanks,” she said.
She got in and he closed the door. The black leather seats were nice, but a little warm on her skin. They were very comfortable seats. Brian hurried to the other side and got in. Tom put his seat belt on as he started the SUV. He glanced in the rear mirror to see if Corey and Sherry were in the blue Sedan. Tom put the SUV in drive and slowly began down the street.
“Is everyone ready to get drunk and party?’ Tom asked.
By the sound of his voice he was clearly ready to get drunk and party. He sounded overly excited about it. Melissa shook her head. He reminded her a lot of Al.
“I am,” exclaimed Kate.
She also sounded very enthusiastic about it. Brian just glanced at Melissa. So far he hadn’t see her drink any alcohol. He had no clue if she was a drinker. He and his friends had been drinkers since college. Of course they didn’t drink as much now, but the still did on occasion.
“Are you two not drinking with us?” asked Kate.
“Brian can’t go without drinking,” Tom said.
“Yes, I can,” protested Brian.
“Whatever,” Tom teased.
“Do you drink, Melissa?’ inquired Kate.
“Sometimes.”
“You will have a beer, or two or three with us right?” Tom questioned.
“Sure.”
Melissa wasn’t so sure about that. She didn’t know if she really wanted to drink.
“Good.”
Tom turned the radio up as he sped up. Everyone silently sat back and listened to the radio as they drove.
Melissa wasn’t sure about drinking. The thought of it brought back some painful memories. The truth was Melissa hadn’t drunk in years. The last time she drank was at a party back in high school. She and her friends got trashed badly. Well everyone who was there got trashed badly.
It was at a party that Melissa threw at her parent’s house one night while they were out of town. The party was going very well. Everyone was having fun. It was the usual party. They were just hanging out, drinking, talking, joking around, eating pizza, and of course some were making out. They were just being typical young people having a good time.
They were having a good time that is until a chick named Brittany McCoy showed up. Brittany had big boobs and little brains. She was pretty but she dressed like a slut with tight, short clothes and too much make up on. Obviously guys liked it and other females hated Brittany. She flirted way too much with guys and thought that every guy wanted to sleep with her. The truth was most did.
John wasn’t unlike any of the other guys. She flirted with him, a lot. She had the nerve to do it in front of Melissa on some occasions. Brittany just didn’t care. She knew very well that Melissa and John were dating. John assured Melissa that there was nothing to worry about. “I’m not interested in hooking up with a slut who has slept with half the guys on campus. You have no reason to be jealous and no reason at all to worry. You know I love you,” he told her once when she voiced her concern. Looking back now, she knew she should’ve listened. Even after that, Melissa was still a little worried. Mostly because Brittany wouldn’t keep her mouth shut. Melissa had over heard people on campus saying that Brittany was going to get John to sleep with her. It made her so angry.
John was a good guy. He never gave Melissa a reason to worry or to be jealous. He never flirted with other girls, sure he would speak to a few, but that was it. Just casual conversations. Most of the time he talked to them about classes or Melissa. Looking back now, Melissa wasn’t sure why she worried. She just did. Maybe she assumed Brittany and her books were pretty persuasive. They were most of the time, but not with John.
Anyways, Brittany was at the party and ruined everything. Melissa didn’t like Brittany from the start. She actually didn’t invite her to the party. Brittany just showed up with someone else. She was dressed like a slut, wearing a tank top and a tight, short skirt. She had far too much make up on. The only good thing about her was that her hair looked so nice. It was blond and wavy. It seemed like she never had a hair out of place.
Brittany obviously didn’t like Melissa either because she was talking trash about her from the minute she got there. At first Melissa ignored Brittany. Then Brittany starting hitting on Melissa’s boyfriend John. Melissa and John’s relationship was pretty serious. Melissa loved him and thought he was the man she was going to marry. He had everything a girl could want, wealthy family; he was popular, extremely cute, and really sweet. She often described him as the love of her life. He was so in love with Melissa also.
Brittany along with everyone else in town knew that Brian and Melissa were dating. They were very open about their relationship. They were often seen in public holding hands and kissing. They were rarely seen going anywhere by themselves. Brian wasn’t one to cheat or flirt with other women. He had always been faithful to Melissa and she was faithful to him.
Now, Melissa heard that Brittany was on the back porch talking to John and headed out to see what was going on. Melissa was only curious as to what was going on. She wasn’t a violent person. Melissa had never been in a fight a day in her life. She didn’t intend to do anything.
The second she walked out the door she saw Brittany and John kissing she freaked out. It wasn’t like Melissa thought. John didn’t kiss her, but Melissa over-reacted and didn’t give John a chance to say a word. He didn’t like Brittany and he didn’t want her anywhere near him. He certainly didn’t like the kiss. He was very angry that she did kiss him. Brittany was being way too forward for him.
The porch was a few feet high. It was above the garage so it overlooked the driveway. It was a large wooden porch with wooden rails all the way around it. There was a table on the porch in one corner and several chairs sitting around along with a grill.
Anyways, Melissa freaked out. She just wanted to mess Brittany’s pretty little face up a bit. So she punched Brittany once. Brittany stumbled back a little closer to the railing. By this time, six people were left at the party. They watched and laughed thinking Brittany was getting what she deserved. No one bothered to stop Melissa. Melissa punched her a second time. Brittany lost her balance and fell over the railing. She landed in the driveway.
Everyone hurried to the railing to see. Brittany didn’t move. There was a large pool of blood around her body. It didn’t look good. One of her legs was twisted in a way it should not have been and her one arm was under her body. At first they just looked in disbelief. No one said anything. They just looked at the body in shock. No one moved to see if she was okay. It was as if they were waiting for her to jump up and start laughing or something, but she didn’t. The sight of her body was pretty horrible. Several minutes went by before anyone was able to speak.
“I think she’s dead,” John gasped.
