Soliciting experiences with publishing via Kindle.

Amazon now sells more books through Kindle than through mailing out paper versions. I believe it is possible to publish directly through Kindle, avoiding the dead tree issue. Have you done this? I solicit your take on it. Was it difficult? Did you make any money?
