Corning, N.Y. — A launch party will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Southeast Steuben County Library for the release of the audio book version of “Alysa of the Fields” by Corning author Tina Field Howe.
“Alysa of the Fields” is a science fiction novel, targeted for teenage readers, that was published in 2006. It is the first book in an ongoing series, “The Tellings of Xunar-Kun.”
Howe won a state grant through the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes to create an eight-CD, 9.5-hour audio book version. The project features the voices of 41 actors from across the Twin Tiers, including 16-year-old Allison Chen of Horseheads in the lead role of Alysa.
Saturday’s event, which is free and open to the public, will feature the actors, along with artist and Internet radio show host Toni Quest as a special guest. It kicks off Teen Read Week at the downtown Corning library. Refreshments will be provided.
