Mount Carmel writer has book signing at the Dimmick Library

W. Bryan Smith of Mount Carmel was at the Dimmick Memorial Library on Saturday to autograph copies of his book, "Buddy and the Jack."
"The story is set in Jim Thorpe," said Smith, adding that the reader will be able to identify a number of locations in the community. "For instance, I refer to 'the only house on Race Street with a second floor balcony'," he said.
The novel, Smith's first to be published, is about Buddy, a mongrel dog that was blinded from being abused. The violent experience left the dog homeless, scared and alone. Trapped inside the dark labyrinth of his own mind, the dog led a bleak existence, until a chance meeting with the Jack, a fearless Jack Russell terrier. The Jack befriends Buddy and bravely leads him on a perilous quest for a land called home.
Smith was born in New Haven, Conn., and educated in Pennsylvania. A licensed private investigator, he works in the insurance industry.
Smith has a Jack Russell terrier, Tycho.
