The Solonians came to trade with the people of the Realm for the one thing in their kingdom that they needed, men. To have access to the Solonian healers and their medicine, it is agreed that the Realm will give them what they want. It is Lady Katerina, who wants a special man for a mate, that causes some of the people of the Realm to think that they may have made a mistake in their bargaining.
Juston is the Realm's greatest warrior, and it is he that Lady Katerina is determined to have. Juston believes he is nobody's property to be traded, and he means to fight them. Outnumbered, drugged and bound, he soon finds himself forced into a Solonian marriage ritual that includes wearing a control collar.
Action-packed excitement and intrigue fill Susan Kelley's story FOR THE GREATER GOOD. A highly imaginative tale with fascinating characters that demonstrate how far some people are willing to go to get what they want. Juston finds himself enslaved and used as an object of trade. He is determined to fight for his freedom, but soon finds himself in a struggle of a different kind, one of the heart.
Juston is a wonderful character. A great warrior, he is valued for his strength and his fierce fighting abilities. It is how this character's personality grows throughout the story that I found fascinating. I cannot explain without giving away too much, but he really won me over. Lady Katerina sees Juston as handsome and strong. She figures he will make a good mate, but it is his heart that truly makes him a hero.
Lady Katerina is a woman that believes she does what she has to for the protection of her people. Even though it seems that how she goes about getting a mate is wrong, she is determined to get the best man she can find. The attraction that is shared between Katerina and Juston is overshadowed by the fact that Juston has his choices taken away. Even though they have problems, their interactions are heated and filled with passion. I could only hope that they would find a way to make it work in the end.
This is a fast-paced story that is filled with amazing and incredible action that sometimes takes a frightening turn. It is a fascinating and engaging tale that had me thinking about the cause and affect of the actions as they are taking place. THE GREATER GOOD by Susan Kelley mixes action/adventure with a passionate romance to make a captivating and very entertaining story.
