A hedgehog’s prayer

I am a little hedgehog
And I live in a nest
Surrounded by oak leaves—
Nothing but the best.

I live beside a mountain
Under a bushy tree,
And I roam in your back garden
Feeling wild and free.

I rarely meet a Human
(Although I did the other day),
They’re very big and frightening
And I always run away.

My eyes are very sensitive,
I don’t like dazzling light,
But I love to see the Moon and stars
Adorning the darkest night.

I roam in your back garden
Feeling wild and free,
And I firmly believe, when I find God
He’ll be lovely and small—like me.
