I am blown away by the response the news of Courage in Patience''s upcoming release has garnered. WOW.
News of Courage in Patience (Kunati Books, September, 2008, ISBN 978-1-60164-156-4) is spreading quickly among the Incest & Sexual Abuse Survivors' online community. Reaction has been enthusiastic and welcoming. Among the MANY enthusiastic responses I have received: Scarleteen magazine, an online magazine and resource for young women who have been victims of sexual abuse, immediately agreed to review Courage in Patience, and expressed interest in interviewing me.
Dr. Patti Feuereisen, a prominent NYC psychologist, advocate, and author of Invisible Girls: the Truth About Sexual Abuse, is going to review it. Holly Desimone (Fight for justice.com), a leading advocate for victims of sexual violence and in-demand presenter for conferences, is among another supporter of Courage in Patience. Alexis Moore, President of Survivors in Action (http://alexisamoore.blogspot.com), host of a radio show in California, has already featured Courage in Patience on her blog.
Y'all probably won't believe this-- I am actually a very shy person... but realizing (I mean, REALIZING-- the kind of "marrow of your bones" REALIZING) how many others there are with the same kind of history, has pulled me out of my shyness because I see what a NEED there is for a story of hope like Courage in Patience.
