I shall be a Visiting Fellow at The University of Western Australia in 2008
I have been awarded a 4-month Gledden Senior Visiting Fellowship at The University of Western Australia in 2008. During this time I will be interacting with faculty on sustainable development, integrated human studies, and deep ecology as well as working on my next book.
I am particularly interested in the deep reasons for the world crisis, and how to resolve it. One answer is that we need a new worldview, as discussed in my book "The Science of Oneness".
Another perspective is that most humans are dysfunctional, at least to some extent, due to trauma. Hence healing human trauma and reducing the creation of new trauma are keys to healing the world. I shall be addressing this issue in my next major book on "The Trouble with Trauma."
Where do viruses, such as Ebola and HIV, come from and why they are so aggressive? This book changed tenets of evolutionary virology, developing the concepts of aggressive symbiosis and plague culling, which explain much of the horror of plague virus
The symbiotic pattern of evolution is everywhere and allows us a very different and fascinating window into the way symbiotic viruses work, since all viruses are symbiotic, including those involved in our human reproduction.
