Let's take the graft and corruption out of the group home system for mentally ill and developmentally disabled. Social Security pays a minimum of 35K per resident, per year in rent. Each resident shares a bedroom with one to three other residents. Staff salaries are paid separately by soc.sec. and the monthly check of each resident is confiscated by the managing company -- except for about $80. The menu would make Army mess look like haute cuisine and most of these buildings don't meet code. Elect me and I'll find out where that missing money goes.
Let's use our taxpayer funds more wisely for public housing also. I propose that all HUD sponsored high-rises be converted to solar, starting in my district. That's Minnesota's third district. If solar can work to reduce heating, lighting and cooling costs in a state with such changeable weather, it can save HUD big bucks nationwide. It'll also reduce our CO2 footprint without threatening the bottom line of any vital industry. Savings realized by HUD could convert other highrises. Hopefully we would soon be freer in terms of mideast politics.
