The Writer's Studio of Utah schedules writing course for January 8, 2006 to be taught by writers, publishers and agents.
Pleasant Grove, Utah--9/24/07--The Writer's Studio of Utah has scheduled an 8 week writing workshop course for writer's and those serious about writing. The course will cover such topics as, finding your writing voice, how to get published, the changing markets--how to break in, how to make a living at your writing, creating unforgettable characters, and much more.
The 8 week course will be presented lecture style and will be taught by professionals in the field of writing, publishing, and literary representation. "Our objective is to help the serious writer, even the novice who wants to write seriously, acquire a firm foundation on which to build a successful writing career." says Randy Jernigan, the program's founder and executive director, and veteran features writer for such weekly's as In Touch Weekly, Life and Style, People, and The Star Magazine. "I've spoken to many aspiring writer's over the years and I've been struck by how many just want the basic knowledge of how to get started down the right road. I feel confident that The Writer's Studio can act as a springboard for people to achieve their literary dreams."
According to Jernigan it is also the objective of the program to not only teach structure and style but to introduce the author to a network of publishers, magazine editors, film and television producers, agents, and other successful writers that will take a serious look at their work. "We want our writer's to be able to make a living at their craft if they so desire," says Jernigan
Author and editor, Geri Taylor, is the programs co-director and co-curriculum developer. "I'm excited about being involved in this program," says Taylor. "It's different from any writing course I've ever taken. There's such an energy when you get writer's together, and you get their creative juices flowing. It's majic. I feel this program will kickstart a lot of new careers in writing." says Taylor.
According to Robert Smith, a member of the programs board of advisors, selected workshops will be recorded for a PBS series on writing and careers in writing.
The course begins January 8, 2008 with an orientation meeting with regular classes beginning the following week. The price for the 8 week workshop course is $235.00 and those interested can register online at www.thewritersstudio.org. Seating is limited.
