Jack strolled along the walk at sunset, gaze fixed on a purple and red glow beyond the rutted main street. Inside the building an unseen virtuoso tortured Camp Town Ladies from a tuneless piano. He stopped under the sign and sighed, then turned and squinted his remaining orb into the smoky light of the Dew Drop Dead Saloon.
