Cinema Stanzas: Rhyming About Movies Now in Paperback  

 Films of various genres are covered. Major motion pictures like The Revenant as well as small independent films like Ovation receive Tucker’s rhyming treatment. This book is a fun resource for fans of both movies and poetry. It won Second Place in the E-book Poetry category at the prestigious 2019 Royal Dragonfly Book Awards.  

In the book’s Foreword film critic and author Phil Hall writes that Tucker has a flair for light comic poetry in the style of Ogden Nash. “This distinctive touch enhances her reviews, providing a delightful way to consider films,” he says.   

Tucker also explains how she got involved in mixing films and poetry. “I blame it on a famous director and to tap dancing,” she admits and then gives readers all the important details. She also includes comments received about her approach of combining film reviews and poetry. Below are three examples.

Tucker writes film commentary for the Colorado Senior Beacon and AuthorsDen. She is the award-winning author of Confessions of a Movie Addict, Susan Sarandon: A True Maverick, and Cinema Stanza Two: Poet Laureate of the Movies. Using the pen names of Harry and Elizabeth Lawrence, Betty Jo and her late husband Larry co-wrote It Had To Be Us, a romantic memoir that was adapted for the screen as a short film titled CAKE: A Love Story, now available on YouTube. Tucker also belongs to the San Diego Film Critics Society and the Online Film Critics Society.
