Children''s author, Cynthia Reeg, spent January 30 with students from Holy Infant School in Ballwin, Missouri sharing her stories and writing tips.
Ms. Reeg is the author of two picture books, Gifts from God and Kitty Kerplunking: Preposition Fun, as well as numerous other short stories published in children’s magazines. She conducted writing classes with seventh and eighth grade students, highlighting story elements with a power-point presentation and activities.
With the second grade students, Ms. Reeg read from her picture books. The students took great delight in discovering all the prepositions “kerplunking” in place. They also became impromptu illustrators, offering additional photo-opt ideas for Gifts from God. Ms. Reeg provided the class teachers and library with study guides, activity sheets, copies of her magazine stories, and CD’s of her picture books which are available in both print and electronic formats.
Ms. Doege, the school librarian who invited Ms. Reeg for the visit, had this to say:
Entertaining, illuminating and inspiring are a great way to describe the recent visit of author Cynthia Reeg to our school. Speaking to both, junior high and primary students, Mrs. Reeg led the students on engaging and fun-filled adventures of role-playing and hands-on activities which left her audience wanting more. A return visit is definitely a must.
