I have been lax in reporting the news of my writing. In fact the last time I reported any news was in 2008 and I have more to share.

"My Splendid Concubine", my first novel, also earned an honorable mention in general fiction at the 2009 Hollywood Book Festival.

Then "Our Hart", the sequel to "My Splendid Concubine" was released in 2010 and went on to be a Finalist of the National Best Books 2010 Awards in Historical Fiction. In addition, "Our Hart" picked up honorable mentions in General Fiction at the 2009 Los Angeles Book Festival; 2009 Nashville Book Festival; 2009 London Book Festival, and the 2009 DIY Book Festival.

Early in 2012, I combined both "My Splendid Concubine" and "Our Hart" into one novel called "The Concubine Saga" and it has earned honorable mentions in general fiction from the 2012 San Francisco Book Festival; 2012 New York Book Festival and the 2012 London Book Festival.

On July 8, 2012, The Midwest Book Review said, "Many nations adopted modernism in their own ways. The Concubine Saga is a historical novel from Lloyd Lofthouse, following famed modernizer Robert Hart, a man who has contributed greatly to China's advance in the nineteenth century, gaining much power and influence for a foreigner during the period. My next novel, "Running with the Enemy" will be released early in 2013, and I will serialize the first few chapters on Authors Den.
