Review of "Bound by Hatred", by author Shelley Walden

Shelley Walden takes her reader on a path of domestic violence so severe yet frightening and truthful. Sadly, domestic violence is so prevalent in our society, where the law is usually lagging behind, in the attempt to keep up with the needs of the victims. Despondently, domestic violence between two adults can, and usually does affect the child/children of the home. There is usually no way to avoid this.

In "Bound by Hatred" one will witness where the victim will do just about anything to save the relationship, and especially to save her child. The honeymoon stage is played out repeatedly in between attacks of violence, even with the help of courts and lawyers. In Angel's case, the abuse she received finally drove her to disappear and begin a new life for her son.

What Angel finds for years to come is the affliction of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Doctors are learning how severe it can be for a victim to overcome the horrible symptoms of life altering, or life threatening circumstances.

If you have been in an abusive situation, I highly recommend you read "Bound by Hatred". I found this book to be dark, yet "enlightening." Angel is to be applauded for her bravery and her determination to end the abuse, once and for all, while giving her son a chance at a happy, normal life.
