Revenge of the Pun!, the sequel to Embrace the Pun!, has won a Bronze Medal at the 2011 IPPY Awards, to be presented in New York on May 23.   The IPPY's are hosted at Book Expo by Independent Publisher Magazine, selecting outstanding self-published books in 90 categories.

Revenge was in the running for both Humor and Graphic Novel/Drawn Book categories. The book is also under consideration for Best in Humor by Foreword Reviews Magazine.

"Revenge of the Pun!" is a collection of single frame cartoons based on puns. To make it clear right up front, I am a serious fan of puns and often finding myself making them all of the time, even occasionally when they might not be exactly appropriate, so jumped at the offer when given a chance to review this book. 

The author, Barry Corbett, is a freelance cartoonist who's work has appeared in several major magazines. This collection of some 180 cartoons is packed full of puns, some that hit me square on and really tickled my funny bone, while a few others took me a bit to "get". 

This is a great quick read that lends itself to being picked up and read (or re-read) at a any place in the book. It is also appropriate for all age groups, which is a welcome change these days. 

Recommended! "Revenge of the Pun!" is a sequel to Embrace the Pun, which I have not yet read.
