Carol Denise Mitchell's Special Commendation
Born May 12, 1955, Carol Denise Mitchell moved to the Bay Area with one purpose: to write. Writing requires concentration, discipline, and a place where creativity can unfold without interruption — and the San Francisco Bay Area became that place.
From 1977 to 2026, Mitchell’s work has been a continuous flow of originality and truth. Her book What Happened to Suzy is archived in the nation’s Library of Congress, and Caring About Restoring Our Lives is preserved in the Glendale Public Library in Arizona. Across four decades, she has never taken a break from her craft.
At 71, the decorated author received an official commemoration from her CDMBOOKS Awards entity. “In all my life, I have never received such an honor,” Mitchell said. The editors at CDMBOOKS and the TMIR Review Department surprised her with this memorable recognition — to her sincere delight. “I can’t wait to post it on AuthorsDen,” she told the editors.
