We have our own way of doing things. Places with populations under 7,000 are unique to say the least. But when word gets out that you have written a good book, opportunity knocks.
During only the first five days in December, I have personally sold 25 books. Many were purchased at the local library bazaar. Others at a Christmas parade in the next town. Some in stores. I know that I am not in the same league with the Madison Avenue crowd or even the academic circle. Marketing my own book is a kind of sweat equity. The beauty is that this way you connect with your readers. So many of you out there know what I am talking about.
At this bazaar, I learned how to braid rugs and make Christmas Tea. I got the names of the right type of paint for decorating old milk cans and tea kettles. I bought some jewelry made from old eyeglass lenses. Also bought a fruitcake. Learned of how a woman I used to work with has lost a parent to cancer. I give you a picture of this slice of life. Many more will be posted to my website. See you there!
