I was invited to “teach” the workshop a 3rd time. I thought, “Ok, time to change technique”. How do you make students pay attention to the sound effects and score of a movie --a studio release-- without making reference to the image? Yes, I can hear you saying or saying loudly, “unplug the video from the player to the TV!”
I tried that at home for a minute --at least it felt like a minute-- and grew frustrated quickly, imagining a student saying something like, “that’s dumb. You watch a movie. You don’t listen to it!”
