Patricia A. Oplinger held a poetry workshop for members of the White River Writers Guild in Batesville, Arkansas at Simmons Bank Annex in its conference room on Feb. 15th.

Pat, co-author of the Circle of Life Trilogy of books with well-known South Carolina artist Carol L. Funke, presented information on the traditional and evolving styles of poetry.

 Pat emphasized how poetic devices transfer well to many genres of prose. She has published prose and poetry in lit-zines and hardcopy, most recently as contributing author and winner of the Environmental Award in a National Writing Contest sponsored by Grandmother Earth 2011.

Members had fun composing acrostic and haiku on site and took away handouts for future reference.
