Thanks so much for stopping by and doing this interview with us here at Mocha's Erotic Review. I know you are working on a few stories so we will keep the interview quick and light.
What made you pick up a keyboard or pen? (Mocha)
I used to keep a journal with my private thoughts and then I started blogging a few years ago and lots of people told me they really enjoyed my little short stories. I wrote about my personal life but changed the characters names to protect the guilty. *Wink* My late younger sister, before she passed, told me I needed to publish my writings and I finally followed her advice. I just wish she could have been around to see it.
Have you improved on your writing since the first time you picked up a pen or type using a keyboard? (Mocha)
My writing has definitely improved, I try to pay more attention to detail and character development as I’m writing a series.
What makes your stories different? (Mocha) All of my characters are biracial or multiracial and I love to write about the paranormal, things like ghosts, vampires, shifters and other supernatural creatures.
Are your stories pure imagination or based on some real events? (Mocha)
A mixture of both, my characters and events are based on people I know, friends, family, etc., and their situations. The rest is my imagination and some of my fantasies.
Do you have a certain way you develop your characters? (Mocha)
I have a few characters that are my favorite and I try to imagine myself as them with their personality, accomplishments, faults and flaws when I’m writing how they handle a situation. Some, just as in real life, don’t change much, at least not to those who don’t look closely.
Which story stands out for you and why? (Mocha)
I have to say my favorite is Naamah from NAAMAH: A SUCCUBUS TALE. She and her story were actually a dream I had. I couldn’t shake it and had to write it. I’ve gotten such great feedback from readers that I’m going to write more about her in the near future.
What is the influence behind your plots? (Mocha)
No influence really, I just think of scenarios using everyday life, only I add supernatural elements in them.
Any particular genre you prefer over any other and why? (Mocha)
I prefer paranormal romance and erotica because I can do so much more with them than just contemporary romance. Also, I prefer the interracial aspect of it because I’m part of an interracial couple.
Which do you prefer self publishing or e-publishing? (Mocha)
I think both have their advantages, but I find self-publishing lets me reach an audience that is not just for romance readers only. I have found that men like my stories as well as women.
What are you currently working on right now? (Mocha)
Book two of THE BLOOD ROSE SERIES, THE BLOOD BONDS. Also, my shifter series, PASSION'S PRIDE and my monthly short erotic stories.
How long have you be writing? (Mocha)
I’ve been writing in this genre since October 2008.
Tell us who is really is Mahogany? (Mocha)
Ever changing, evolving, exploring facets of myself daily. I am priestess, writer, wife and mother, though not necessarily in that order. Mahogany SilverRain is the name I took after studying for my first degree in the Corellian Tradition of Wicca.
After completing my studies of a year and a day, I received my first degree and became a priestess. I chose Mahogany, because it’s a strong beautiful tree and I’m an earth sign, Virgo. Silver, for its properties of conducting energy, wisdom and healing and Rain for the water aspect, fluid, dynamic, and adaptable to it’s surroundings. I also took this name as my pen name because it evokes beautiful, exotic, romantic and sensual images. Blessed Be.
