When I was younger, I used to tease my mother about living during the cave man days. She would respond in her prophetic voice, "I can't wait for you to have children, so you can get a taste of yourself." Now that I have children, they in turn tease me about having lived during the cave man era. Life goes around in circles, with each time frame appearing new, but only to be a renewal.
"Seasons: One Woman's Journey" is an inspirational, self-discovery story told in the renewal of the four seasons. The years quickly pass through many springs, summers, falls and winters, each with a brief synopsis of significant highlights might have happened in the author's life. These moments are interrelated, with a color or a song, although many years apart. And, every season has an image to reinforce the mood, which causes the reader to reminisce upon the similarities in their own lives.
Dorine Rivers relates this story in a beautiful poetic rhythm without the rhyme. Within 50 pages, she seamlessly connects the four seasons of a woman's existence as a young girl, a wife, a mother and a grandmother. "Now she is the mother of the bride, instead of the bride with her mother..." I recommend "Seasons: One Woman's Journey" for women who would enjoy reflecting on the circles of life.
