Click here the election were held today, Hillary Clinton would win the Presidency handily with 320 electoral votes to Donald Trump’s 218.  That is the conclusion of the Princeton Consortium, a scientifically-based forecasting organization with a prediction record that is nearly perfect.  In the Senate, the outcome is not as favorable with the Republicans likely to retain control 51 to 49—in spite of the Democrats’ probability of picking up 6 seats.  That slight majority is nevertheless enough to cause great consternation to virtually every piece of legislation contemplated by Hillary Clinton and the Democrats.  The outcomes in the House are less clear, even though the Democrats are positioned to post substantial gains there also.  

The actual results in November will almost certainly be different from today’s snapshot view as time, events, truth, and lies intervene to make what they will on the hopes and dreams of the American electorate.  But if today’s forecasts hold, about the best the Democrats can expect is one more seat on the Supreme Court that favors theirs as the majority view for the foreseeable future.
