Flash Fiction featuring monsters, edited by George Wilhite, with an introduction by Jeffrey Thomas, author of "Blood Society" and the Punktown series
I am proud to present this Static Movement anthology of flash fiction with monsters as the common theme. It contains 92 stories and an introduction by Jeffrey Thomas, an author quite familiar with monsters.
As Jeffrey states in the introduction:
Why write about people confronting and battling fictitious threats when we live in a world of much more serious concerns, like crime…unemployment…corrupt politicians…greedy corporations? Well that’s just it, isn’t it? To give us a break from those real-life monsters. But monsters don’t have to be purely a vehicle for escapism. They can also serve as metaphors to stand in for the real-life horrors. Monsters are adaptable. That’s why they’ve been around so long.
So this book, for all its many monster stories, could easily be twice as long. Ten times as long. It might just as well have no ending. But it will surely whet your appetite, keep you enthused about the endless and rich parade of monsters. Those parading monsters have walked hand-in-hand with us from the beginning of civilization.
That’s because monsters embody our sense of wonder.
Our monsters define us.
