Author and Japanese university teacher Robert W. Norris has released a free online novella/textbook for ESL (English as a second language) students and teachers.
"The Many Roads to Japan" tells the story of a war resister's search for identity over a 14-year period. The e-book has over 50 links, several pictures, comprehension and discussion/essay questions, and the author's reading of the answers to the questions at the end of each chapter. An excellent resource for self, group, CALL (computer assisted language learning), and peace education study. Available in PDF, HTML, and Rocket eBook formats, it can also be read online. Aimed at low intermediate and above ESL students, it is also a good read for native speakers. The URL is http://www2.gol.com/users/norris/roadsdownload.html
This programmed, self-paced lesson focuses exclusively on the use of postpostions (ga and (w)o) with grammatical objects in the Japanese language without wavering or getting off track in the labyrinth of Japanese syntax and other grammatical issues.
