Ken Medernach''s trip to Savannah a huge success

January 16, 2008

Savannah, Georgia

Ken Medernach’s “whirlwind tour of the Georgia Coast" was a great success.

Monday afternoon the group traveled the area with local photographer Bryan Stovall taking photographs for one his upcoming books, that evening they attended the regular monthly meeting of the ‘Geechee Sailing Club’ this was a most exciting evening, fifty plus sailors greeted Ken at Tubby’s Tank House in historic Thunderbolt, Ga. After a brief talk on the origins of the club, he answered questions about the early days of the “Geechees” then read from his books, “On the High Seas” and “ The Nautical Companion a Glossary of Terms and Knowledge”.  Following the talk Ken signed his books to those in attendance and enjoyed the fellowship of the 40 year old organization.

Rocky Merritt, Ken’s publicity agent said,” Ken was in his element, sitting in a bar surrounded by good looking women who were writing checks to him.”

On Monday morning Ken was the guest on “Mid-Morning Live” a daily feature of WTOC-TV channel 11, Savannah. Along with the hosts ‘Sonny Dixon and Jody Chapin, Ken entertained the Coastal Empire’s viewing audience with tales of sailing the Georgia waters. It seems that Ken and Sonny are members of the select group of “Admirals in the Georgia Navy” a honor bestowed upon individuals by the governors of Georgia.

The Savannah trip was wrapped up with a book signing at Trends and Traditions, an eclectic art gallery and frame shop that features books by local authors. Mr. Medernach’s books are available at this location.

More news will be forthcoming about future book readings and signings.
