Gene The Werewolf recently released their international debut album named 'Rock N' Roll Animal.' The Pittsburgh natives have released a video for the song "Superhero.” I love bands with a sense of humor and this video is full of elbow-to-the-rib giggles. We begin with the anti-Law and Order beginning, stating “BASED ON TRUE EVENTS.” There is a box with a baby inside that our “hero” picks up. The baby is left by a man dressed like he should be playing a villain in a Beastie Boys video. Our “hero” is dressed like Sonny Crockett (Miami Vice, anyone?) and is carrying the baby like a football while he runs down the villain. The bad guy doesn’t have a weapon, but does have a jacket which he uses to temporarily blind Sonny and gets away. The CHEESE factor is off the charts and we have just started.

The sound of Gene The Werewolf is very KISS, with Paul Stanley type vocals and BIG hooks. MEANWHILE, Sonny Crockett heads to the bridge and spots the villain on a boat, also realizes that not only is the baby not real, but IT’S A BOMB! Naturally, Crockett jumps off the bridge (leaving exploding baby behind) and lands into a boat. We now have a full on boat chase complete with gun fire. Add in a couple bottles of Crystal, some tan girls with big asses and I’m starting to think Sean Combs had a hand in producing this video. The villain once again eludes Sonny and they are forced back onto land. The music stops. The villain has grabbed an innocent bystander and has a knife to his throat.

Now it gets strange. An argument breaks out and the villain “accidentally” slices the throat of his victim. The whole yelling back-and-forth scene turns into an episode of Always Sunny In Philadelphia, ending with Sonny being told he was “born for this moment” and then replying “damn right I was.” Pittsburgh is fucking weird…
