Author Maggie Plummer has published a new novel entitled Bell-Bottom Gypsy: A Jessie Morgan Novel. The first in a four-book series, the novel is a significant departure from the author’s two works of historical fiction, Spirited Away and Daring Passage.

Bell-Bottom Gypsy takes the reader on a wild 1970s ride – an adventurous coming of age journey along America’s back roads. 

The novel follows twenty-year-old Jessie Morgan, who is fed up with pretty much everything. It’s September 1971 – time to drop out, tune in, and turn on. She leaves college and Detroit in the rearview mirror, hitting the road in her 1965 yellow Volkswagen convertible. Wandering the country’s byways from Kentucky to Key West to Polson, Montana, Jessie is out to experience everything.

She didn’t count on meeting a man like Twisty.

“The early ‘70s were quite a time,” the author says. “I think baby boomers and wanna-be baby boomers are going to enjoy this book.”

Reviewers are describing the novel as a “tightly crafted tale” that’s “priceless.”    

Bell-Bottom Gypsy is recommended for mature readers due to 1970s-era sex, drugs, and cussing.
