Frontiera's visit to Chrystal Falls, Michigan, fifth and sixth graders was part of the grant obtained by Chrystal Falls Public Librarian, Evelyn Gathu. The students had previously received copies of Frontiera's book, Living on Sisu. During the visit, Frontiera told students about her writing process, the problem of bias in sources, and some of the more interesting adventures she had along the way. Deborah wore a period costume while speaking to engage students in what life was like for their great-great-grandmothers. (For some students, great-great-great-grandmothers.) Students asked probing questions and were very involved in the presentation. She also answered questions about her upcoming book, Superior Tapestry.
