During the “Sixties” I was in Junior High School through a failed attempt at College. So much of this book, divided into 100 little vignettes brought back memories of life in that era. Unlike Ms. Pasco, whop lived in one home throughout, my family was on the move from suburb to small town and back to an exoburb in a variety of apartments. Television was just beginning to show us the dark side of world situations, but despite televised war and assassinations, civil rights and explorations in space most of those my age motored on, only dimly aware of that world. We were optimistic, musical, and more likely to study the latest fashion than history.
Many times, younger folks ask me what life was like then and I answer that a lot of time it was a quieter world without that instant communication and portable internet. People had time to think rather than react. But then I stumble and have only to refer to the wonderful book that chronicles it all.
If you lived it like I did, remember and enjoy.
If you are too young to have experienced it, please read and then let’s talk. A great 5 star living history worth every word.
