Democracy and Freedom are in Peril

Keven McCarthy (R) congressman from California wants to be the next Speaker of the House. And according to the most recent polls, he has a good chance of capturing that job. What’s more, he has announced four changes he wants to make as the next Speaker. They are: 1) slash Social Security payments to all those drawing it. 2) slash Medicare programs. 3) eliminate funding for Ukraine. And 4) hold all of Biden’s programs hostage by refusing to raise the debt ceiling.

Slashing those programs and withholding funding the brave fighters in Ukraine could be done, but only if the Republicans in Congress vote as if they were one Giant rubber stamp. But millions of retirees (the sick, the poor, the disabled, combat veterans, teachers, auto workers, truck drivers, waiters, carpenters, and scores of others who have paid their dues into those programs) would be thrown into poverty, while untold millions more would likely die from a greatly reduced Medicare program. And think about the citizens of Ukraine. They are not asking us to fight for them. They need our financial support. They are showing us everyday that they know how to kick Putin’s ass 16 ways to Sunday!

It is no coincidence that the entire US Congress does NOT receive either Social Security or Medicare. McCarthy and the Republicans have no intentions of slashing their civil service programs, paid by public money, that are much more generous than Social Security or Medicare. But why would any freedom-loving American want to support Putin, a ruthless murderer over the freedom-fighting Ukrainians who have the guts to defend their country against a tyrant? And threatening to shut down the US government in these troubled times of a global pandemic caused by supply-chain manufacturing shortages, plus world-wide oil shortages stemming from Russia and the Middle East, while a nation of freedom-fighters are fighting for life, liberty, and the honor of their country is off-the-charts cowardly. Those actions would dishonor every principle of democracy and human decency thus far advanced by humanity.

Let’s save those earned programs for those who have paid their hard-earned money into them, for the glory of living in a country of real heroes, for our Constitutional Democracy, for our proud Heritage, and for those who have the guts to stand up and fight like hell for what they know is right.

If you believe in Freedom, earning your way, paying your dues, and are willing to fight for our values--Vote against every Republican in Congress who would sell us out and our Ukraine friends at this critical moment in time. Now is the time to do the right thing.
