Just when I thought all was lost I rediscovered a philosophical outlook.
My news splash prior to this was my excitement at having been signed by David Norrington of Wordcatcher Publishing. 12 books by Wordcatcher, a pandemic shutdown, and 2 years later saw a rapid end to that. All momentum lost David had to call a halt to Wordcatcher; and with that I was left with 12 titles looking for a new publisher.
Liverpool's erbacce-press almost picked me back up with publication of all my 'asylum' poems in one big collection - 'Mirror Mirror: in the geography of the head.' Certainly enough to keep me thinking that my writing might still matter. The thought though of having to find a new publisher for my fiction... To put together synopses, sample chapters, introductory letter... and wait months to be told, Thanks but No Thanks. So I put all of the Wordcatcher titles on Smashwords, where at the very least they are getting read.
In picking myself up I began putting together two collections of prose pieces. One titled just that, 'Sam Smith's prose pieces.' The other called 'Anti.' And I have self-published both on Amazon. That done I have started on a new SF novel. I'm calling it my love letter to science fiction; and I'm really enoying its many twists and turns...
