Downsizing is so hard

Recently Fred and I have made a huge move.

We were always use to having big homes due to

having five children. Before we knew what was

happening , they all grew up, they soon became 

adults right before our eyes and we never noticed

until it was too late and they were making lives for

themselves. We soon ended up in a large home

for just the two of us. Well we found we were only

using one bedroom, the kitchen, one bathroom and 

the livingroom oh yes and the laundry room but not

as often as when there were seven in the house. The

kids that lived close by came to visit between their jobs 

and their lives and soon children of their own, yes we

became Grandparents and over the years we now have 

eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Now

even they have grown and started their own lives and 

there seem to be more time passing before we would

see them. Time was going by, we use to say yes down

the road we'll do that, thinking we had a whole life ahead

of us untill we realized we are old , we are seventy years

old and we have more years behind us then what we have 

ahead of us, so here we are in a three bedroom bunglelow 

just in case any of them decide to come for an overnight 

visit. We are getting use to a smaller place but oh boy did

we ever have to downsize. I guess neither of us noticed how 

much we had gathered and collected over our fifty years of

being together. We moved into our new home on

March 13,2025 and vowed this is the home we'll have 

until our number is called.Yes we are seventy and we are 

still like young lovers. The kids still think it's sweet that we 

always hold hands nomatter where we go and we always 

tell each other how much we love eachother. Life has been

good to us. Fred served thirty-one years in the Military and

I was always a stay at home mom and wife. I helped plan

weddings from making the cakes and the flowers along with

catering to a good many of them. I enjoyed preparing the food 

for their special occassion. I baked and decorated cakes from 

 slabs up to nine tiers. I did this for twenty years along with so

 many birthday and retirement cakes. I enjoyed it so much as

Fred was away for weeks and sometimes months with his job 

so it gave me something to do and I continued to write poems

through mthe years and I had two novels published along with

a book of poetry. I haven't given up yet as I am going to choose 

two hundred of my favorite poems written through the years and 

having another book of poetry published, hopefully over the next

few months. I am doing it mostly for our children, grand kids and

our family and a few close friends. Just wanted to let you know 

what we are up to and our plans for the future is to live life and 

be happy together, along with a few trips we have planed while 

we are healthy and still young at heart. Take care and I will continue posting poems.
