Black woman and bestselling author Carol Denise Mitchell has become the first writer to publish a full‑length book documenting the Musk v. OpenAI (Musk v. Altman) federal trial — written from inside the Oakland courtroom where the verdict was delivered on May 18, 2026.

My new book, OPENAI: Oakland’s Seat at the Table, captures the testimony, the arguments, the jury, and the civic weight of a case that will influence the future of artificial intelligence for years to come.

To my surprise, the book quickly reached #13 in its Amazon category, and early readers have recognized its importance as a firsthand historical record.

As a Black independent author from Oakland, it means everything to contribute something meaningful to the public record — and to do it first.
