"Somehow, not only for Christmas, but all the long year
through, the joy that you give to others, is the joy that
comes back to you. And the more you spend in blessing,
the poor and lonely and sad, the more of your heart's
possessing, returns to you glad."
- - John Greenleaf Whittier

1. Dare to Make Your Dreams Come True
===========================================

The approaching holiday season usually causes us to pause,
review the year that's passing into history, recount our
victories, and think about some of our nagging near misses.
What went right? Where did we fall short? Then we move on,
looking into the future and formulating our New Year's
Resolutions . . . Or maybe not.
Many of us have given up because we failed to achieve what
we stated as resolutions year after year. Can we hope to
have a different outcome in the coming year? Yes, we can!
Here's how.

Think! Daydream! Go a little bit crazy! Give yourself
permission to let go of reality for a time. Let down the
boundaries you've been living within and look over the
horizon with a wide - angle lens. You have the power within
you right now to achieve anything you want to achieve, to
become anything you want to become! How can you be satisfied
with the status quo, the current state of things, when the
world is filled with abundance and you have talents to be
used? Dreams can be fleeting, fanciful ideas of optimum
satisfaction or pleasure, or they can become raw material
for the vision of life as you want it to be. When that
vision leads to goal setting, you are on the way to
achieving your dream.

Most of us stop dreaming because we're locked into habits
and thought patterns that we assumed as we were growing up,
patterns like always looking for the one right answer.
Admonitions such as "be logical," "be practical," and "don't
rock the boat" have stifled our imaginations. Those
admonitions may have been well intended, but they do not
lead to creative thinking. Many people still believe that
you have to be a little bit crazy to be creative!

Forget the restrictions. You are looking for possibilities.
Look at audacious and outrageous, seemingly impossible
ideas. Stretch your imagination. There will be time for
evaluating the ideas later on. For now focus on the majesty
and excitement of what might be. Do not be afraid to be
outrageous. Dare to dream impossible dreams. Who's to say
what is possible anyway?

Dreaming has the capacity to become a powerful force in your
life. It can generate positive expectations, make change
more acceptable, and boost self - confidence. It can even
provide direction and unlock energy! Dream now then
formulate your New Year's resolutions as goals to achieve
those dreams.

If you truly would like to stretch the possibilities of your
life and establish more ambitious goals, then you must be
bold enough to dream great dreams. There will never be a
better time to begin than right now.

2. Bridging the Gap by Hezekiah Griggs, III
==================================================

Hezekiah presents his recommendations for bridging the gaps
that keep us apart.

Communication - talk out differences, explain points of
view, have open and consequence - free environments for issues
to be discussed.

Evaluation - take heed of what the other has said, and make
an attempt to actually feel what the other person said or
explained.

Contemplation - take a step back in opinions, and have a
heavy focus on understanding the other's point of view.

Realization - apply to life how you would live out what
you've heard.

Capitalization - take advantage of you new connection

Satisfaction - continue conversing until you receive
satisfaction from what you have discussed.

Leadership - commit to creating an environment
where the young persons can be leaders.

Development - continue to focus on developing your new
relationship.

Acceptance - accept the changes and conditions made by all
parties.

Transition - preparation and acceptance lead to transition.
Transition your lives to your new found perspective.

Last week I had the opportunity of meeting Kevin Powell,
a highly respected speaker and commentator, and shared
with him, as he did with me, my life story and my
personal feelings on current situations. One of the things
we both agreed on was the lack of young positive leaders.

This is a pressing problem, and we should all accept
responsibility for this severe injustice to the progression
of mankind. We must continue to have hope and vision for our
future.

"Where there is no hope there is no vision" - George
Washington Carver

Hezekiah Griggs, III, is an inspirational speaker, publisher,
and promoter. His first sale was made at age 9. Now 19, he
inspires people of all ages. I have enjoyed interviewing
Hezekiah twice; I appreciate his wit and wisdom.
His sister was serving in Iraq when we did the latest
interview.
