"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27 NIV)

Whenever I think of this passage, I am reminded of the time the disciples were out in their fishing boats and encountered a perilous storm. They did everything in their power to survive, but their fear of perishing was quickly taking control of the situation. The disciples knew Jesus was asleep and onboard, but they soon lost hope that they would survive the turbulent storm.

Sometimes we feel as if we're the only one going through a trial. In my own circle of friends, I know of at least four ladies who are also widows. Two have since passed on, and two are pressing forward in God's strength to move ahead in accomplishing His will for their lives.

I remember the song that really made a difference as I was facing this very difficult time last year. It says "I will praise You in this storm." The words were powerful and said everything I wanted to say to the Lord, but couldn't. Now one year later, I still have my days when I have my doubts and fears, but I know who is there by my side. He never said we'd have no trials, yet He promised to be with us each step of the way.

What storm is causing havoc in your life today? Let the sweet peace of the Lord fill your soul as you cling to Him and give Him praise!
