I've joined ColorOfChange.org in calling on our representatives to fight the far-right's attacks on the poor. I wanted to invite you to join me.

Just before Thanksgiving, the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives rammed through a plan to reduce the deficit by cutting services that benefit the poor. If the Senate goes along with the cuts, 300,000 people will be dropped from food stamps, 330,000 children will be dropped from child care, and $8 billion will be slashed from student loans. They did all this while fighting to preserve tax cuts that benefit the wealthiest Americans.

The members of ColorOfChange.org have vowed to do their part to prevent any Americans, especially the black poor, from being left behind again as they were in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. What we're seeing from the Republican leadership is just another form of abandoning the politically voiceless.
