With Fall approaching (I think) I thought it time to send another of my infrequent newsletters. I would like to welcome those new subscribers and to thank those of you who have been readers of my Authors Den site a bit longer.

It has been a busy year with moving to Oregon and getting settled. I will have two books released this year which is a bit of a fete for me. My book on the folklore of sacred stone (Menhirs, Dolmen and Circles of Stone: The Folklore and Magic of Sacred Stone) will be out shortly from an academic press based in New York, Algora Publishing. This book will be available in three formats, hardback at $27.95, trade paper at $21.95 and e-book at as yet undisclosed price. For those of you who may be interested it is now featured on my Authors Den site (www.authorsden.com/garyrvarner)
with links to the publisher. While it may be purchased directly from the publisher it will also be available from most on-line retailers and from your local bookshop.

My second book on waterlore will be released by Publish America, a Baltimore publisher that published my book, Sacred Wells. The release date for Water of Life—Water of Death: The Folklore and Mythology of Sacred Waters is uncertain but I will let you know when I find out.

In the meantime, I have two additional books in progress. One on the Green Man, and one on the folklore of the sea. The Green Man book will be substantially different from those you may already be familiar with. While this one does go into the history and myth of the Green Man it also focuses on his image in the United States and on secular buildings around the world. Until now, researchers have focused only on the Green Man situated on ecclesiastical architecture. This book will also have many photos of the Green Man found in New York, Iowa, California and Oregon, which have not been published elsewhere.

For those of you who have not checked out the new New Age Journal site I suggest that you do so. It has been completely revamped and now has a bookstore and other retail options as well as a variety of monthly columns, book and music reviews, etc. (I write one of them so this is a “subtle” plug for myself as well!)
