Hello,
I'm very busy raising an eight year old grandson who has cerebral palsy and is blind in one eye.
I'm editing several novels and have completed two illustrated poetry books. Currently I'm looking for interested publishers.
Would love to keep in touch with everyone who enjoys my poetry but there is never enough time. If you'd like updates on what's going on, you'll find it here.
Love,
Sandy

Doogie's Braille teacher will be coming to our house at 12:30 tomorrow (she works for the state in vision services); Doogie needs to be assessed by her (for learning aids--like a white tipped cane, etc.).
Doogie's vision will NOT be clear until at least April 8th as we're giving him drops to prevent rejection of the band around his repaired right retina that contribute/cause blurry vision.
He wasn't seeing anything from Sunday thru Wednesday (last week) and then we were b/w blobs moving around. Now he can see our faces from 6" away in color . . . but not very clearly.
We've been cautioned though not to get our hopes too high because: 1) when his left retina was repaired he could see for only ten days-two weeks and then it went to only light and dark (it was temporary and has stayed that way) and 2) it can't be any better than it originally was . . . but, who knows for sure what his original vision was in that eye? We didn't get full custody until 3 wks before his fourth birthday. (He will be 9 April 22nd).
I appreciate your concern, compassion and prayers. I believe there is power in prayer.
God bless and watch over you too.
Love,
Sandy
Painted Roses
In memorium of Doug
Yesterday I painted roses
sobbing softly in memory.
Knowing how you once drew roses--
each petal, thorn, was drawn for me.
Joyfully, we smelled those roses
‘til the years withered them one and all.
Still it seems just like yesterday
you were toddling down the hall.
Wish I still could see your roses,
perhaps could pluck them here and there.
Son, in case you haven’t noticed
inside my heart . . . you’re always near.
Yesterday I painted roses
like those yellow ones drawn with care.
Tomorrow we’ll both draw roses . . .
when I am called to come o’er there.
