This has to be one of the prettiest winters in many years. The snowbanks are piled high with future spring runoff and the 3 year old Belchfire 5000 snowblower has finally gotten a good workout. Even after all these years, I still like to play in the snow. The snow was much deeper when I was a kid, but it is possible that my legs were a bit shorter back then.
There is a winter trip in the works and I am starting to get a bit excited. I am heading for Oregon in a couple weeks. The trip will take me through the upper Rocky Mountains and into Idaho. I could go the southern route, but seeing the Rockies in winter should be quite spectacular.
I have a cousin who is a survivor of the USS Tang one of the most successful submarines in WWII, and we are going to just sit and talk for a few days. At 86 years, he is just as sharp as a tack with an exceptional sense of humor. On Saturday, Feb 21, we are setting up a 20 meter dipole and we are going to check into the submariners net on 14.243 +- qrm. It should be around 0900 central time.
