America is alive and well despite what you hear in the news.
The fourth trip in the last 10 months has just been finished and the odometer turned 17,000 miles. I have seen both oceans and nearly all of the mountains in our great country.
I had the opportunity to see our nation's capital and even saw the place where terrorists crashed a plane into the Pentagon killing many good citizens. I saw the place where the snipers killed several people near Manassis Virginia. I still have difficulty understanding how humans could be so hateful.
The oceans are fantastic but a citizen of Minnesota's northwoods has difficulty imagining them being so vast. It is also difficult to imagine a fish large enough to swallow a man. I guess when you live in the woods, you forget how big the world is.
I got to taste "Hot Boiled Peanuts" in Mississippi and left unsure if they were spoiled or not. Must be an acquired taste.
In a tiny Arkansas restaurant, I saw a little old lady offer a stranger her sweater to keep warm. Everyone called her Grandma.
I saw sunrises on the eastern seaboard so colorful, that they are hard to describe and took over 600 photos during the trip.
I hope that the many business cards I passed out make me into another Stephen King, but I have some doubt.
And so, summer goes on. Back to mowing grass and watching the season pass.
