Well friends, River Chase is finally here and more adventures of Wil Morgan are waiting inside to be enjoyed. This is the last book on old Wil and I must say that he and I have become close friends. It feels kinda funny to know someone like Wil so very well. Once in a while you find yourself hoping he'll stop in sometime for coffee. Must be my old age raising its ugly head.
The snow is nearly gone here in the pines. Just a small spot back by the barn is all that's left. I'd like to say that I enjoyed the winter, but if it weren't for my feathered friends, I'd probably be in the looney bin by now.
Strange how the tulips pop through the snowbanks so early. Apparently they don't realize how fickle spring can be. Sure is nice to see them though.
I am proud to say that I fed the birds this year til they could hardly fly north when the time came. All together, it came to about $55.00 worth of feed, definitely a small price for so much entertainment.
Fishing season is here and the crappies are waiting for me in the Prairie River. Have you ever heard the term "fish hungry"? Here in the pines it means that a mess of fresh fish is the only cure for what ails you. My dad used to say it was time to stink up the frying pan. I know. I know. He was one of a kind.
Well, time to go and dust out the old boat. I tried every which way to convince my bride that I need a new one, but when I told her it had dry rot, that cinched it.
"I thought it was aluminum!" she said.
I just shuffled back out to the garage, my bruised ego following along quietly. How'd she get so darned smart anyway?
