Friends and Fellow Travelers:
Each one of our lives, from birth to death, is an adventure. And, each adventure brushes by, touches, stays briefly or adheres longer with countless others' adventures. We are to marvel and be marvelled at, you and I. I'm speaking to you... and to you... and to you... as individuals. At some point, the paths of our adventures crossed. With you, we may have smiled in passing. With you, my dear friend, my wife, my son, my daughter... our paths may have joined to a wider highway. With you I may have stayed but an hour and laughed... with you the hour was spent in tears. With you our paths well may cross again. Have our lessons not been learned well enough? Do we need more time? May this offering be a way -- not the only way, certainly not the best way, perhaps, but a way -- of reaching out...

I spent the better part of the morning adding to the insallment of my 4 or 5 part experiences at Greene School, which is (as you know if you've read the previous 2 offerings) a home for emotionally disturbed children. Anyway, I encountered many problems in writing today's segment. The insert function wasn't working, which meant I coudn't correct run together words (such as runtogether) by inserting a space between them. It would turn out as run ogether, and I would have to re-do the remaining paragraph. As a result, I left a number of run ogether words runtogether. Anyway, after all that crapola, I pushed the send button, and sent it somewhere to China or Mars or Heaven's Discard Pile. Where I DID NOT send it was to my newsletter recipients. It will take me a few more days before I regain enough energy to begin that installment again.
The completed Newsletter floating out there somewhere in the ether, I had also made an empassioned plea to all of you newsletter receivers who had not done so, to tack on the ending to my story "Unfinished Rhapsody." You cannot believe how empassioned I was. "There are only 3 days left" I urged you: "You only have to add on a short, short paragraph to the story on my message board. Then when the door closes at the end of the day April 30, I will pick a winner. And that winner will receive a free, signed (big whoop!) first edition (as if it will go 2nd or 3rd edition!) of "The Dead Of Winter." It will be a big and heavy book, excellent for holding doors open or swatting flies, or your kids' butts.
So, here's the deal! Just do it! Damn it, do it! Save me the embarrassment of begging.
In two days the begging ends and the threats begin. If you think my whining and cajoling is annoying, wait 'til you hear my threats. There's nothing sadder than threats that are meaningless and ineffectual. Especially if you're the one delivering them. And most especially if you actually believe that others will be frightened by them. And, damn it, I DO!!!
So, just do it. You don't even have to read the "Unfinished Rhapsody" story first. Just make up an ending, any ending. If you've read any of my short stories or poems on my site you know that your disjointed ending may fit snugly, perfectly, seamlessly, anyway. Just do it!
