Friends and Fellow Travelers:
Each one of our lives, from birth to death, is an adventure. And, each adventure brushes by, touches, stays briefly or adheres longer with countless others' adventures. We are to marvel and be marvelled at, you and I. I'm speaking to you... and to you... and to you... as individuals. At some point, the paths of our adventures crossed. With you, we may have smiled in passing. With you, my dear friend, my wife, my son, my daughter... our paths may have joined to a wider highway. With you I may have stayed but an hour and laughed... with you the hour was spent in tears. With you our paths well may cross again. Have our lessons not been learned well enough? Do we need more time? May this offering be a way -- not the only way, certainly not the best way, perhaps, but a way -- of reaching out...

I have been planning a newsletter for several days. I wanted to send it out with a very special (at least to me!) announcement. You can, by the way expect it within the next two days. I think you'll enjoy it. Howver, I have a very good reason for sending this preliminary newsletter out to you. It is this:
You may be aware that my other web site, www.jaysquires.com has newsletter capability. I have been using it almost exclusively for my last 3 or 4 newsletters, the last one being sent out over a year ago (the tardiness for which I apologize. Anyway, I had planned on sending the newsletter mentioned in the first paragraph from that site. However there are massive problems with the delivery system. In short, it ain't gonna work! Soooooo, out of desperation, I began the process of transferring the names of my subscribers over to the AuthorsDen Newsletter. But, here's the rub:
I was unaware, until well into the process, that the Authorsden folks send a confirmation to each email address, thanking the subscriber for signing up and giving him/her the option to unsubscribe. It was further complicated by the fact that the 250 subscribers from the www.jaysquires.com site were identified only by email address, not name. The AuthorsDen site identifies by both (and, remember, they are the ones sending out the confirmation email!) Now you may see why I changed your name to the generic "JaySquires Friend" (then threw in a question mark, hoping to endear me to you -- did it work?)
Then I panicked! As I said, I wasn't aware until well into the process of changing over the email addresses that you would be getting the confirmation (actually, I subscribed myself, and that's how I found out). Once I saw what you were receiving I realized that if I were you I would unsubscribe. I probably wouldn't even have remembered signing up for it in the first place, since it was over a year ago.
So, as a special favor... if you haven't already unsubscribed will you consider holding off for a few days anyway? Until you get the actual newsletter which is the reason I am going through this whole silliness in the first place? If you have unsubscribed, and my appeal has tugged at your heartstrings, will you re-subscribe or answer this newsletter giving me permission to re-subscribe you.
