"Millie and Honey" Date 15 June 2012 — Issue # 1

One of the last things that I ever saw myself doing was creating BLOGs and Newsletters. I am an Aviation Maintenance Professional, but I love a good story. Several years ago, I wrote a story for my wife, and recently, I have had it published as a book. Sometimes it takes a while for an Idea to settle in.
Since I began the publishing of this book, I have written a second one and it is now in the publishing process. So I have time to advertize the first book and begin the marketing.
I have searched and studied everything from HTML to Meta Tags and the like. It is Hard work to market something in this day and age. I am glad that I found The Author Den as it allows me to do quite a bit very easily. I say it is hard, because there are so many ways to market your brand. Which one is best?
Anyway, back to the thought of writing. I began writing stories and they seem to keep getting longer as I go along. But where do the ideas come from? I wrote a blog on my web page: millieandhoney.com but I am not sure if it was ever sent anywhere. LOL! So here it is again. The BLOG is about “My Muse” I fully believe in them as I have one. Her name is, Millie.

1. Feature Article: ARTISTS AND MUSES

One night, I had a dream. In the dream, I saw our dog, Honey and a little girl that I somehow I just knew was named Millie. Millie had on jeans, a frilly white top and a white hat. They were walking through the forest with Honey's puppies. Again, I just knew their names: Salazar, Jasmine, Burt and Blinky.

At that time, I had several things on my mind as our pets, Honey (our dog) and Thomas (our cat) as they were in Ohio and living with a friend. They were not going to be able to live with us for a while and my wife and I were both missing them.

We were also considering having Honey spayed as it was suggested by the vet. I wanted her to have puppies as she would be a fantastic mother. She treated Thomas as if he was one of her puppies. They played together and even slept together.

Now, dreams are funny things and in them you don't see them as a movie, or real life, as you can do anything in dreams. Rather you get scenes, feeling and impressions. Your mind interprets them in many ways.

Dream experts say that your dreams only last a few seconds and then you think about the dream and your mind adds to it throughout the night.

I seem to remember that my wife (Rose) was standing outside a silvery machine and there was a sign on the side of the machine. The sign was the same one that is on the side of the Traveling Machine, in the book.

Later in the dream, I saw Millie, Honey and Honey's litter arriving at a planet with two suns. Outside the door was Thomas. It was funny seeing him so big as he is smaller than most cats. Somehow I heard him in my mind with an English accent (My wife is Irish, but has a strong British accent). Hmmmm?

In the background, I saw one sun setting and two more suns rising over the Amusement Park. Rises that were different. Feline styled rides that sent my mind wondering how they worked. Being in the Aircraft Maintenance industry, I naturally tried to figure out everything worked.

When I awoke, the dreamed stayed with me. I thought about it for a long time and the book began to take form. I worked on it until it was a nice story about Honey and Thomas, and even included my wife :)

Millie has been in many dreams since and we have traveled to Appleopolis (the next book) and are currently on a secret mission on "The Blue Angel Planet."

There are many more planets yet to be explored, with Millie (My MUSE) and Honey (Our Dog). Along the way, we will see many incredible things. So stay plugged in as the second book is all ready written and the Artist (Romar) is creating the artwork.

2. Recommended Resources
After a few months of research, I see several places for authors to get their books out there in front of readers:
1. AuthorsDen.com – Excellent web site and very user friendly. You can start free or a small quarterly fee.
2. AmazonAdvantage – Get your book noticed and have more flexibility on the ads.
3. iPage and Word Press are two inexpensive web site creators.
4. Book Distributers – Look for book distributers in your area. These are the guys that distribute books to places OTHER than Book Stores.
5. Get Connected – Connect with as many other sites as you can because the more places you touch, the more trails you leave that lead back to your web page.
