Some time ago you put out four names for Author Friendly Radio and TV stations. I contacted all four. Franalive will interview me on August 14, 2007 for my book, "The Immigrants' Daughter" that won Best Books 2006 Award for the multicultural non-fiction category in October 2006. Trust me: I belong to the silent majority of immigrants: legal, sober, and honest to a fault. Maybe it is time to change the majority's opinion about recent immigrants (haha).

Joe Mazza charges $150 for guest appearances. I did not hear from the other two. I did mention your name.

Single Moms: Let Your Voices Be Heard!

As Oprah Winfrey has often said, parenting is the most difficult and important job in the world -- even more so for single mothers, who single-handedly face all the usual parenting challenges, plus a whole set of unique ones. While being a single mom can be tough at times, it also brings many joys and rewards, and the positive aspects and outcomes of single motherhood often go unrecognized.

The editor of the bestselling Cup of Comfort (Adams Media) book series is (desperately) seeking personal stories for publication in an anthology for and about single mothers. We want slice-of-life stories that read like good fiction and both entertain and move readers. Any topic and any voice goes, as long as the author tells an authentic and compelling story. Though I know this isn't any kind of commercial success or even approaches that standard, I was overjoyed to learn that my novel, "Edges, O Israel, O Palestine" by Leora Skolkin-Smith, edited by Grace Paley was accepted at The National Women's Studies Association conference "Past Debates, Present Possibilities, Future Feminisms" held in St. Charles, Illinois this June. The keynote speaker there is going to be Sandra Cisneros, who wrote "Caramelo". A big theme this year is immigration issues, and comment on the politics of migration and mobility today."
