One of our AC members is putting together a book with little time to spare. Thus this special edition. You will note that it is something a bit different from the usual book fair offering and might work extremely well because of the notable absence of books with the exception of B&N, which obviously thought this a darn good idea for they negotiated an exclusive. See only the one opportunity from David Merritt below, plus a tip 'cause I know you always like those! (-: And watch for your next issue this weekend.

A Marketing Opportunity

The NAACP is planning to hold a televised funeral. On July 9, 2007 they will bury the "N" word! No joke. Honda, Target, Toyota, Ford, Sprint, and hundreds of other Exhibitors displaying to over 100,000 visitors. They are having Barns & Noble to be the “Exclusive Book
Entity” of authors in the “Author’s Pavilion” who invited Author Coalition members Dr Salma Rashid and David Merritt to present and sign their book 20th Century American Struggle, 21st Century Hope just 5 days ago. And instead of hoarding this national stage to themselves they wish to help fellow AC members with promoting their work.

Salma and David's book was published April 2007 and their first public display came within 2 weeks at our 2007 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books AC booth on the UCLA campus. They also signed at another booth with Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Ralph Nadar and others. They have been conducting workshops until the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity In Higher Education (NCORE), invited them to present and sell books to University/College educators, many of which are planning to bring the couple to their campus to perform their workshops. The highlight was their ten minute talk with actor/activist Danny Glover who promised to read and critique their book.

They are inviting authors to participate in their booth at the 2007 NAACP Convention from July 7-11 in Detroit. David and Salma can only take a limited number of authors and they would like to
focus on books which are focused on bettering humans particularly when it comes to tolerance of gender, culture, religious and race relations,
political or military issues. AC members may participate in their booth by send in your marketing materials and twenty (20) books to be given (not sold) out to NAACP convention goers. There shall of course be politicians mingling throughout, but also others committed to bettering the world. It is an ideal opportunity to put your book into the hands of people who want to move our society in a better direction.

Anyone wishing to participate can send $50 (for paid AC members) and $80 for non-AC members (and that fee will then cover AC membership). YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE PRESENT TO PARTICIPATE. Contact david@groupulse.com or call 408 469 5584.

The prices and services can be varied according to what you wish for them to do..They need to hear from those interested as soon as possible because space and time is very very limited.

NOTE: This opportunity will suit books with a world view best. Books that deal with politics, health issues, gender, race and religion issues, etc. It should also garner a huge amount of attention from the media which could make a difference should (and I hope you would) choose to publicize your participation in it.
