What a concept. Study writing at a retreat in Rome.
No, not in a hotel. In a beautiful townhouse near the Trevi Fountain, living like the Romans do.
No, not in a hurry - scurry writers' conference atmosphere but easy. Groups on a rooftop garden or around the kitchen table. And all tailored to the needs of those attending.
No, not with a stuffy lecture approach. Although there will be plenty of leadership from veteran Writers' Program instructors the atmosphere will be in an environment where attendees can learn from one another and are encouraged to share.
No, not scads and scads of attendees but an intimate group, perhaps joined by Roman writers for some events.
And not expensive but a sharing approach to basic expenses.
That is the concept Eve LaSalle Caram and Carolyn Howard - Johnson envision for October 23 to 30th of October, 2010.
Both Caram and Howard - Johnson are award - winning fiction writers and Howard - Johnson is also an award - winning poet. Both are long - time instructors for UCLA Extension Writers' Program where Eve was named Outstanding Instructor in Creative Writing. Howard - Johnson is also an award - winning book marketing expert. The two will focus on teaching their strengths but will also take the needs of the small group into consideration in formulating a program. Jo Lindsell, founder of the online conference PromoDay has also agreed to participate.
